Northern Ohio woman gives life to 37,000 injured animals, OH

CASTALIA, Ohio (AP) — A norhtern Ohio woman who founded a wildlife rehab center 20 years ago says she's helped rescue 37,000 wild animals.

Mona Rutger also offers free daily seminars to children and adults at her office in Castalia. Each year, 70,000 visitors travel to Rutger's headquarters to learn about wild animals.

Rutger has sacrificed much so her nonprofit nature center can function well. She had to refinance her home to pay for the education center. Her husband, Bill Rutger, has supported her every step of the way. He helps care for the animals, too.
