Dissent against Iranian regime reps at Fadlallah funeral

Fadlallah supporters block the Iranian delegation, headed by Octogenarian firebrand Mullah, Ahmad Jannati from taking over Fadlallah’s funeral in the South Zahiyeh district of Beirut.

Mullah Ahmad Jannati

The Iranian regime’s delegation was headed by Jannati who was accompanied by several handpicked envoys of the regime. Massoud Zaribafan represented Ahmadinejad’s camp,  and three members of the Iranian Parliament, Avaei, Boroujerdi and Rahbar were also in tow. The delegation attended the Salat al-Mayyit (funeral prayers) at the Al-Hassanin Mosque which was being broadcast from the Al Manar TV Network, a Hezbollah affiliate. But the broadcast was suddenly preempted with an announcement that there were technical difficulties. Fadlallah’s body was then transferred to another location and once again the prayers began. Al Manar then reported that the reason for the preemption was the huge throngs of mourners who had suddenly converged on the mosque. However, later, it was revealed that when the Iranian delegation entered and stood in front of the mourners, with Jannati and other representatives of Khamenei and the Iranian regime who had offered to head up the prayers, Fadlallah supporters had begun chanting: “Let him rest in peace, he is pious”, blocking Jannati from leading the prayer.

Following the transfer of Fadlallah’s body to another location, per his last will and testament, his brother delivered the prayers, preventing all political maneuvering.
